LIED RANDOLPH PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING-March 10, 2023 Minutes

I.          OPENING PROCEDURE

  1. Call to order 5:00
  2. Pursuant to the Nebraska Open Meetings Act a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is available for viewing by the public.

II.         ROUTINE BUSINESS

  1. Roll Call: Shelley Crawford, Julie Pfanstiel, Jeri Gubbels, Tiffany Guenther, Megan Shearer, Peggy Leiting

III.        PUBLIC COMMENT

IV.        REGULAR AGENDA

  1. Motion by Jeri and seconded by Julie to approve previous minutes, claims, and financial reports.  ROLL CALL YEAS: Pfanstiel, Gubbels, Crawford, Guenther, Shearer.
  2. LIBRARY REPORT for December:  659 Visits with 1094 items circulating, 68 computer uses, 205 digital checkouts.  9 Children’s programs with 204 attending. 0 young adult programs, and 1 adult program with 29 attending. 

  3. Review policies **Request for Reconsideration – discussed with the following changes:  Change to Library “cardholder” and allowed “three” per calendar year.       **Collection Development – no changes,**Continuing Education – no changes,   **Patron Behavior – no changes
  • Makerspace update :  Need to find someplace to get “birch wood” from since it was previously donated by Jason Schmit.  (24”x24” or 12”x12”)
  • Musical Instrument update:  $3500 for concrete pad from Brent Berner.  $6700 if wanted stamped.  Peggy will inquire with Stech Construction out of Osmond as well.  Will also talk with the City office.
  • Ideas and suggestions: Book signingEmersyn Park, author from Tea, SD may be able to come and do book signing with a book discussion.  Ashley (Schmit) Dierks wrote a book, it would be great to have her in town for a signing/book discussion.
