LIED RANDOLPH PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING-June 12, 2023 Minutes

I.          OPENING PROCEDURE

  1. Call to order 5:00 PM
  2. Pursuant to the Nebraska Open Meetings Act a current copy of the Open Meetings Act is posted in the meeting room and is available for viewing by the public.

II.         ROUTINE BUSINESS

  1. Roll Call: Jeri Gubbels, Julie Pfanstiel, Tiffany Guenther Absent: Shelley Crawford and Megan Shearer

  1. Motion by Jeri and seconded by Julie to approve previous minutes, claims, and financial reports.  ROLL CALL YEAS: Pfanstiel, Guenther, Gubbels
  2. Library report

LIBRARY REPORT for December: 822 Visits with 942 items circulating, 57  computer uses, 226 digital checkouts.3 Children’s programs with 52 attending  We have 51 preschoolers and 60 elementary students signed up for Summer Reading Program.  We made 69 t-shirts with staff and volunteers getting theirs free. Our first week Kent Bearnes came from the Nebraska Games and Parks with the Critter Corner program.
Emma Bermel painted our sidewalk.
Emerysn Park book talk went well.
Jeff Gubbels made an outside cover for our Makerspace ventilation system.

  • Review policies: Minor wording changes and phone number will be added to the Laptop and Emergency policies.  No changes to Internet and Finance policy. Motion by Tiffany to make changes and seconded by Jeri. ROLL CALL YEAS: Gubbels, Guenther, Pfanstiel.  Peggy will write up a policy about the use of alcohol in the Meeting room.
  • Makerspace update: Laptop was purchased and we will need to add CoralDraw software.   Becky is coming in by appointment.  This past month patrons have made retirement gifts, award plaques, cut material for quilts along with other things. Becky volunteer her time to make Summer Reading t-shirts.
    We need to look into additional ways to ventilate the room.
  • Musical Instrument update: Billerbeck plans on doing the cement but no date set.  We may have to make the drums higher to accommodate the cement depth.
  • Community Response Survey for Accreditation: We discussed survey questions.
  • Ideas and suggestions: Jenna Guenther has been helping on Saturday.  She is doing a great job and will make a nice replacement for Erin Engel.
